Solar design t-square for designing solar cooker reflectors

I tried this on a small scale model and then scaled up. It can better be  used on a larger scale. You could also  design flat parabolic "plates"  with mirrors  on a sheet of  plywood  to make powerful mock parabolic dishes.  (In that case only one laser shining straight down is needed) This shows ...

Hand Cranked Flashlight Mod plus Joule Thief

I have a couple of hand cranked flashlights laying around and I was never satisfied with their performance. When I got them fresh out the box they worked great. But when their batteries ran out it was too exhausting to recharge the batteries manually. And after a couple of years, it was almost imposs...

The kyoto trough uses troughs with their curvature at right angles to each other to mimic a parabolic dish. Bending and cutting sheet material to make the trough requires as little as 2 cuts of the sheet material.. On the other hand Cutting sheet material to make a parabolic dish is a massive undert...

Charge Your Cellphone Using Wasted Heat (and Build a Steampunk Wall-E)

We updated the instructable with a new implementation you can build without spending all that money on those expensive seebeck generators. "Compound" parabolic solar cooker, make a template with technical drawing

Compound parabolic dishes have a super advantage over parabolic dishes. You rarely have to reposition them as the sun moves. So you can leave them unattended for long periods! There are many possible compound parabolic dish configurations and rather than me try to satisfy everyone, I though it would...

Intelligent Solar Garden Light - Part 1

I bought a solar powered garden light. The solar panel charges the batteries and when it gets dark the lights (3x LEDs) turn on until it either gets lights again or the batteries run out.It has a small amount of intelligence (turns on when dark off when light) but not enough! Time for some upgrades....
